Russian Air Strikes on Ukraine Surge Under Trump Despite Ceasefire Push

1 min read

Data from the Ukrainian Air Force shows that Russia has launched over 27,000 missiles and drones between January 20 and July 19—more than twice the number fired during the final six months of Joe Biden’s presidency. The surge in attacks coincides with periods in which the Trump administration paused military aid to Ukraine, sparking criticism from opponents who accuse the president of undermining Kyiv’s defenses.

While Trump has insisted he can bring the war to an end “in a day” and has threatened Moscow with sanctions if peace talks stall, the reality on the ground suggests the Kremlin is intensifying its assault. The latest intelligence shows Russia expanding its missile and drone production, including the mass manufacturing of ‘kamikaze’ drones at a large facility in Alabuga.

Ukrainian cities, including the capital Kyiv, are experiencing daily bombardments, and civilian morale is weakening. Analysts say recent U.S. policy shifts—including halting, then restarting weapons shipments—have left Ukraine more vulnerable, even as diplomatic negotiations continue.
